For the majority of 2016 and 2017, I served as Senior Physicians Editor for HealthLeaders Media. My full body of work from that role can be found here.
Notably, I wrote the following three cover stories for HealthLeaders Magazine:
From 2010 to 2016, I served as the lead editor of FiercePracticeManagement, a weekly e-newsletter and website that delivers breaking news, analysis, trends and commentary aimed at helping busy physician practice managers make informed business decisions and stay ahead of the competition.
Within that role, I also authored several original special reports and custom whitepapers for physician office, hospital, and health plan audiences:
Reducing hospital readmissions with enhanced patient education
Executive summary: Health plan communication channels with members
On your side: How outsourced billing can strengthen your practice
Patient collections: 7 Fierce strategies for getting paid
Five ways to engage patients with Facebook pages
I was also a regular contributor to Fierce's flagship publication, FierceHealthcare, a daily dose of must-read healthcare news written for hospital CEOs and other executives.
In Sept. 2011, I became a regular feature writer for Vital Signs, the official newsletter of the Massachusetts Medical Society. For these articles, I interview several physicians and key players in the commonwealth's healthcare industry. Through this assignment and living in a state that has in many ways pioneered health reform, I have a unique insight into similar changes taking place throughout the country.
In March 2011, I became a regular contributor to Summit Medical Group's recruiting site, GreatMDJobs.com.
These pieces are written for residents and other early career physicians:
What type of medical practice is right for you?
Inpatient, outpatient, or both? Today's primary care physicians have the option to stay out of the hospital or immerse themselves in it completely
Notably, I wrote the following three cover stories for HealthLeaders Magazine:
- The Outpatient Imperative: Beyond Putting 'Heads in Beds'
- Clinicians in the C-Suite
- What's Next for Retail Healthcare?
The assignment--a special report profiling physicians who treated victims on the scene at the Boston Marathon bombings--stands as the most inspiring and humbling of my career so far. (pdf)
